Sunday quote: Frédéric Beigbeder

wish-upon-a-star

Rappelons à toutes fins utiles l’étymologie du mot désir: il vient de “de” (préfixe privatif) et du latin siderere (astre). Le désir vient donc d’une étoile perdue, il évoque un météore après lequel on court sans jamais le rattraper.

And, for those of you that do not speak french, he is my (humble) translation (adaptation):

Let us remember, for whatever purpose it may serve the etymology of the word  desire: he comes from “de” (privative prefixes) and from the Latin word siderere (star). The desire thus comes from a lost star, he evokes a meteor after which one runs without never catching up with it.
